Is Udyam Registration available for traders too now?
Under the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises, SME registration wasn’t exclusively available for traders, there was no registration procedure for traders. The Udyam Scheme platform, however, has recently been made more inclusive of its traders’ base by the government. The same is coded by NIC. As of this year (on 2nd July 2021), the government has finally recognized retail and wholesale trade businesses as micro, small or medium enterprises, thus allowing them to enroll in Udyam Registrations under MSME.
Who are Retail and Wholesale traders?
Generally, wholesalers sell bulk quantities of a particular item (generally maintain a degree of specificity in their product collection). There is limited variety, but they sell their goods at a price that is relatively less than the market price at the factory or production site. By doing so, you can increase profit margins when selling to retailers, professionals, or commercial users.
They purchase from wholesalers to profit from good margins, while selling to consumers and professionals or industrial users. Retailers deal with a very wide variety of products (non-specific primarily), in limited quantities of each. Consumers and wholesale markets are linked through them.
Udyog/ Udyam Schemes for Traders:
Over 2.5 million wholesale and retail traders in India will benefit from the government’s newly improved Udyog and Udyam schemes of MSME, which are well-intentioned and in their interest.
Traders have gained the following benefits in accordance with the Udyog/Udyam scheme’s nature:
- Bank loans that are cheap and easy
- Tax rebates and capital rebates for small businesses
